Kathleen and Douglas Mulvey’s impactful connection to Texas A&M University began when their son enrolled in the electrical engineering program and experienced something special. Inspired by the support he received, the St. Louis-area couple established the Mulvey Family Endowed Engineering Scholarship to help future students pursue their dreams at Texas A&M. While not Aggies by education, the Mulveys have embraced the university’s spirit and traditions, demonstrating a commitment to selfless service and the transformational power of giving back.

From the Land of Lincoln to the Brazos Valley

Both engineers, the Mulveys met at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Until recently, their only connection to Aggieland was brief work in the Bryan-College Station area and a handful of friendships with Aggie engineers. That changed when their son, Adam Mulvey ’26, accepted a scholarship to attend the university.

“Our first real introduction to Texas A&M came during his campus visits,” Douglas Mulvey said. “We all immediately felt at home — with the university, the area and especially the people. It was clear that this was the right place to entrust our son’s education.”

Now raising two Aggies, the Mulveys take every opportunity to engage in university traditions and football while visiting Adam and their daughter, Ava, a freshman in the Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM Program. Their youngest son, Zac, is a junior in high school and hopes to become an engineer, as well.

A spirit that can ne’er be told

The Mulveys have fully embraced Aggieland and all that Texas A&M represents. They have deeply committed themselves to supporting current students through selfless service.

"The Spirit of Aggieland — that genuine commitment to selfless service shared by students, former students and the entire community — is what makes this place extraordinary,” Douglas Mulvey said. “We’re grateful to have found Aggieland and to be part of this tradition of helping others.”

The Mulveys decided that the university offers a total package of good causes, good people and a quality education. Having seen their eldest son’s education supported by generous donors, they were inspired to pay it forward.

Kathleen and Douglas Mulvey embody Aggie core values, and their endowment will support future Aggie engineers for generations to come.

How to Give
