"My favorite part of my program was getting to know myself more deeply. I was able to see how I deal with challenges in communication, transportation, leadership, organization, and more. In a place where I didn’t know anyone, and nobody knew me, I saw who I really want to be - without the normal expectations or bounds of day-to-day life. My leadership and communication skills flourished and led me to locations and friendships that I could’ve never imagined. My hope for students is that they give themselves fully to these wonderful programs and see themselves in a new light."

"The most rewarding part of my program was the amazing friendships and connections I formed not only with other students from A&M but also with students from Mexico. Being abroad pushed me out of my comfort zone, but also gave me the chance to learn, grow, and appreciate the beauty of learning from others. Immersing myself in the culture and the universities was such a wonderful and impactful experience that I will carry with me forever. I hope that students give themselves the chance to study abroad and understand that there is a program out there for them."

"The greatest part of my study abroad was the degree of immersion into the culture I got to experience. My fellow students and I walked to class with the French students, went to lunch with them, and got to enjoy the nightlife with them. My program even had us working on a group project with French students while being taught by a French professor. I got to be fully immersed and felt as if I had always gone to school in France."

"The greatest part of my study abroad experience was building friendships with students at our host university. Immersing myself in a new culture pushed me outside my comfort zone and gave me the confidence to grow in ways I hadn’t imagined. Those connections, many of which I still maintain today, made the experience truly unforgettable. Studying abroad has shaped me into a more adaptable and confident person, both socially and academically."

Hometown: Laredo, Texas
Office Hours: Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
"The greatest part of my Greece study abroad trip was learning to embrace the unexpected, whether it was a spontaneous adventure, a long meal by the water, or simply getting lost and enjoying where it led me. Those moments taught me the value of slowing down and being fully present, instead of always planning ahead. I left Greece with more than memories; I left with a new perspective on how to live, grow, and appreciate life as it comes."

"I have participated in several programs with HEGP, and the greatest part about each experience was how much I transformed as a person and engineer every time. Professionally, I not only developed strong technical skills, but I also was shaped into a more effective leader. I learned how to collaborate within teams that had unique dynamics and cross-cultural perspectives. From a personal standpoint, being immersed in different cultures from around the world has taught me the many ways people think and approach challenges. These experiences have made me a more empathetic, adaptable, and well-rounded person in every aspect of my life."

"The greatest part of my program was stepping into an area completely unknown to me alongside people I had never met before. Balancing the coursework with exploration made every day exciting and meaningful. It was both fun and fulfilling to grow in an unfamiliar environment while building genuine connections. This experience has given me confidence in embracing the unknown and finding value in the journey itself."

Program: 2025 COE Exchange at Swansea University in the United Kingdom
Hometown: Houston, Texas
Office Hours: Thursdays, 4-5 p.m.
"The greatest part of my program was the people, including not only the other exchange students but also the full time Swansea University students who I met through both classes and where I was living. The experience brought out my spontaneous side to make the most of being abroad and to build friendships with people I never would have met otherwise. I tested my independence by traveling, strengthened my adaptability in a new cultural and academic environment, and I hope other students take advantage of the unique opportunity that is living and studying abroad."

"The best part of my program was the opportunity to work in a different county. Participating in a research project with Greek students and faculty broadened my perspective of the world and strengthened my ability to collaborate cross-culturally. In addition to enhancing my technical skills, the experience improved both my self-confidence and resilience. For me, this trip shaped me into a better engineer, global citizen, and overall person."

Program: Belgium Medical Device Entrepreneurship Summer 2025
Hometown: Katy, Texas
Office Hours: Fridays, 3-4 p.m.
"The most meaningful part of my program was seeing how much it helped me step out of my shell. Before studying abroad, I saw myself as more introverted and preferred the comfort of familiar routines. But during my time in Belgium, I had to push myself into new situations, trying traditional Belgian foods, learning local dances, and even navigating public transportation by buying my own train ticket in French. These small but important moments taught me to embrace the unfamiliar with confidence. It’s a lesson I plan to carry with me for the rest of my life, and one I could not have learned without this program."
