Tenure-Track/Tenured: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor
MSEN is hiring faculty with expertise in synthesizing, processing, and consolidating powder-based metals and ceramics. Priority goes to researchers working on powder synthesis - atomization, milling, and other advanced techniques - along with the science behind heat transfer, solidification, and microstructure evolution in advanced materials.
Selected faculty will join the research cluster at the Center for Alloy and Powder Synthesis (CAPS), MSEN's newly established center for powder-based materials science, backed by growing experimental capabilities. They'll also have the opportunity to work with the NSF Autonomous Robotic Metallurgist Materials Innovation Platform (ARM-MIP).
Tenure-Track: Assistant Professor
MSEN is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Quantum Materials, with a focus on experimental synthesis, growth, and characterization of emergent quantum materials.
The role is part of a university-wide cluster hire in Quantum Sciences and Technology - five faculty positions across engineering and science at Texas A&M, built to connect physics, chemistry, materials science, and electrical engineering around quantum research. Faculty in the cluster will work across departments and institutes, pushing quantum materials research from synthesis and characterization through theory, computation, and device development.
Areas of interest include:
- Experimental synthesis and growth of quantum materials
- Emergent quantum phenomena
- Low-dimensional and correlated quantum materials - twistronics, spintronics, devices
- Defects and solid-state qubits for quantum sensing
- Topological phases and quantum geometry for quantum information science
The role includes teaching, advising, building an independent externally funded research program, and department service.
