Engineering professors Dr. Dimitris Lagoudas and Magda Lagoudas have been educating and mentoring Aggie engineers for over three decades. Their impact on the College of Engineering continues with their donation of three scholarships.
Two of the scholarships are dedicated to graduate students, one in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and one in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. The third scholarship is for an undergraduate student in Materials Science and Engineering.
“Both my wife and I were first-generation students, and we have a soft spot in our hearts for all Aggies who find Texas A&M a place where they get an education as the first generation from their families and that really changes the whole trajectory of their lives,” Dimitris said.
The three scholarships will serve to lighten the recipients’ financial burdens, allowing them to focus on learning and growing as engineers in ways that otherwise wouldn’t be possible.
“[We want] to support students who have academically distinguished themselves and show great potential, and who, after receiving the best engineering education, are motivated to make a positive impact in the world,” Dimitris said.
Dimitris is a University Distinguished Professor, professor of Aerospace Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering. He also serves as the Robert C. “Bud” Hagner Chair of Engineering. Magda is the executive director of Industry and Nonprofit Partnerships and an instructional associate professor.
The Lagoudases’ passion for engineering, Texas A&M, and its students is evident in all they do. Through their service and generosity, they continue to shape the College of Engineering and positively impact the lives of Aggie engineering students.

How to give
