Texas A&M University’s PK-12 Engineering Education Outreach office offers Maker U Professional Development. Our engineering design programming equips K-12 educators with strategies to integrate the Engineering Design Process (EDP) and foster an engineering mindset while promoting creative problem-solving and critical thinking. With our engineering technology courses, educators gain hands-on experience with tools like 3D printers, robotics platforms and CAD software. In addition, they learn practical applications for integrating engineering and technology into their classrooms enhancing STEM education.

Maker U is divided into multiple workshops to meet your specific campus needs. See the program details for additional information on individual workshops. Any PK-12 educator in a formal or informal educational setting is invited to register.

Online Professional Development Programming

MakerU Online Courses are flexible, self-paced professional learning opportunities designed to support educators with practical, classroom-focused engineering education strategies. These asynchronous courses complement the existing in-person MakerU professional development experiences by providing additional opportunities for educators to engage in learning from anywhere and on their own schedule. MakerU will continue expanding its online course offerings to provide additional topics and resources for educators in the future. Participants who complete a MakerU Online course will also earn a digital badge that can be shared as a professional micro-credential. Educators can add their badge to email signatures, school or personal websites, résumés, and social media platforms such as LinkedIn to showcase their professional learning and STEM education expertise.
