Co-sponsored by the Meloy Program and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The Fab Lab is a hands-on prototyping and fabrication space designed to empower students to turn ideas into reality. Whether you're working on a personal project, launching a startup, completing a class project, or simply exploring how things are made, the lab provides the tools, resources, and support to build, test, and iterate quickly.
Our Mission
Our mission is to cultivate a community of builders who learn by doing. The Fab Lab emphasizes practical engineering, rapid prototyping, and creative problem-solving, lowering the barrier to making so anyone with an idea can take the first step toward bringing it to life.
-
- Prototype physical products from concept to functional model
- Learn and use tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and electronics
workstations - Collaborate with other students across disciplines
- Develop real-world engineering and design skills
-
The Fab Lab is open to both undergraduate and graduate students from all majors. Whether you're studying engineering, business, design, or any other field, you’ll find a place here. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to learn and build.
-
The Fab Lab is located in the Wisenbaker Engineering Building (WEB) in Room 121. The Fab Lab is open daily to maximize accessibility for student schedules: 12-10 p.m., 7 days a week.
Get Involved
The lab is staffed by trained student leaders who are here to help you get started, answer
questions, and keep things running smoothly. Students are encouraged to collaborate, share knowledge, and work through challenges together, creating an environment where everyone can learn and build more effectively. Email Professor Paul Deere if you would like to be connected to the Fab Lab.

Training
Each machine in the Fab Lab has an associated operations and safety manual that must be reviewed before use. For those looking to go further, guided training assignments are available to help users learn each machine’s capabilities.
Email Professor Paul Deere for access to training materials, manuals, and resources.Notice
Use of any Fab Lab equipment indicates that you have read and understood the corresponding operations and safety manuals.
