The College of Engineering at Texas A&M University is excited to announce the call for applications for the Halliburton Engineering Global Programs (HEGP) Travel Award 2025-2026 academic year.
This award is designed to assist undergraduate engineering students who require financial support to participate in global programs overseen by the Halliburton Engineering Global Programs office.
Eligibility
- You must be enrolled as an undergraduate student in the Texas A&M College of Engineering.
- You must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- You must be traveling in a global program overseen by the HEGP office.
Awarding Process
1. Application
For Winter 2025 and Spring 2026 programs
You must have previously applied to the University Scholarship Application for Continuing Students for the academic year 2025-26.
You also need to complete the HEGP Travel Award application form according to the following dates
Winter 2025 and Spring 2026 programs
- Opens: October 20
- Deadline: November 9
For Summer and Fall 2026 programs
You need to apply to the next 2026-2027 University Scholarship Application for Continuing Students (open from October 15, 2025 to February 1, 2026).
You also need to complete the HEGP Travel Award application form according to the following dates:
Summer and Fall 2026 programs
- Opens: February 15
- Deadline: March 16
NOTE: you must complete both the University Scholarship Application for Continuing Students and the HEGP Travel Award application to be considered.

2. Selection
Your applications will be reviewed based on academic merit, financial need, and the potential impact of the global program on your career.
If you are selected as a potential recipient of the HEGP Travel Award, you will be notified via email and receive the HEGP Travel Award selection letter, according to the following dates:
Winter 2025/Spring 2026 Programs
- Deadline: November 19
Summer/Fall 2026 Programs
- Deadline: March 31
3. Fund Request
If you are selected, you must request the funds before your global program, within one year after being notified of your selection and before traveling, according to the following dates:
Winter 2025/Spring 2026 programs
- Opens: November 17
- Deadline: November 30
Summer/Fall 2026 programs
- Opens: March 31
- Deadline: April 13
To request the funds, you need to be committed to any program overseen by the HEGP Office on the day they formalize your fund request.
As a requesting student, you need to complete the HEGP travel award request form and submit the following documents:
- Student Award Letter downloaded from Howdy Portal
- Education Abroad Cost of Attendance Adjustment Request Form
- HEGP Travel Award selection letter
4. Funds Confirmation and Award
Upon receiving the necessary information and additional documentation, the financial aid package for each requesting student will be reviewed to determine fund availability and any potential conflicts in the student account due to loans or other financial aid received.
Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on availability and the administrative conditions of the requesting students.
If you have insufficient room to receive the funds or potential impacts on your student account, you will be notified via email.
If you are eligible to receive the funds, you will be notified with an official letter including the name of the grant providing the funds and will receive up to $1,000 to support your global program participation.
Funds will be posted on your Texas A&M account during your period of traveling according to the following dates:
Winter 2025/Spring 2026 programs
- After December 15
Summer/Fall 2026 programs
- After May 5
5. Thank You Letter
If you have been awarded, you must write a Thank-You letter to the scholarship donor upon your return, following the guidelines provided by the HEGP office.
Important Notes
- You can be awarded the HEGP Travel Award only once during your entire academic career.
- The HEGP Travel Award cannot be awarded if you have already satisfied your financial need for the Academic Year in which you are traveling.
- Once selected, you have up to a year to request the funds, depending on funding availability.
- Posting the funds, if awarded, may impact your loan balance if you have existing loans in your account.
- The Travel Award is both needs- and merit-based. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for need-based scholarships.
- Some merit-based scholarships may require a minimum GPA of 3.2.
