We've listed four petroleum engineering-related and three other student chapters here to provide a few resources for our students who seek involvement with other students in order to make a professional or social difference in their lives. But there are hundreds of other student chapters at Texas A&M University that might also be a good fit, so we encourage exploration.
Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter
This goal of this organization is to spread knowledge of theories and practices in all aspects of petroleum engineering. They also encourage and mentor the professional development of every student member through involvement, engagement, and networking.
American Association of Drilling Engineers
This organization gives students opportunities to network with professionals in the oil and gas field. It also provides information to students about drilling and other industry-trending topics and encourages them to volunteer and take on leadership positions.
International Association of Drilling Contractors
This organization provides opportunities for creative interactions between students, faculty, and drilling industry professionals through chapter-sponsored networking events and professional development activities. It also creates engagements that promote close fellowship between members.
Pi Epsilon Tau
Pi Epsilon Tau is the national honor society of petroleum engineers. The goals of this student-led organization are to promote a closer bond between its student members and industry, to broaden the scope of activities of members, and to maintain the high ideals and standards of the engineering profession.
International Student Association (ISA)
The mission of this organization is to promote cultural awareness through events and community engagement. It also represents and advocates for international Aggies and provides opportunities for members and officers to develop global leadership skills.
Graduate and Professional Student Council
This council of graduate and professional students serves as the student government representing all Texas A&M's graduate and professional students. Its goals are to improve students' academic, living, and social experiences and voice any concerns in its role as a liaison with the University Administration. Each department may have one representative and two alternates on the council. General Assembly meetings are open to ALL graduate students.
Student Engineers' Council (SEC)
This council, formed by the Dean of Engineering back in 1939, is the representative body for all students in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M. The SEC represents the concerns of engineering students and professional societies to the college administration and the university. Meetings are held every Monday evening.
