Engineering Village peer mentors are fun, creative, encouraging and committed student leaders who help ease the transition into life as an engineering student by inspiring academic and personal success through one-on-one and group activities.
The next application cycle opens Spring 2025.
Why become a Peer Mentor?
- Develop and strengthen communication and leadership skills
- Facilitate planning and manage logistics for year-round events
- Receive guaranteed on-campus housing
- Inspire first-year engineering students to continue pursuing a degree in engineering at Texas A&M University
Peer Mentor Responsibilities
- Live in an assigned residence hall during 2025-26 academic year (will be in the Commons or a Modular hall on the south side of campus)
- Attend all peer mentor training sessions and events
- Set a positive example for residents by demonstrating good personal, academic, and social behavior
- Plan, promote, and attend events for Engineering Village residents
- Maintain an open line of communication with Engineering Village residents
- Foster a sense of community among first-year engineering students
- Conduct any other day-to-day tasks as needed
Am I eligible?
An Engineering Village peer mentor must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Be a student of Texas A&M University College of Engineering
- Have and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Demonstrate the ability to make responsible decisions
- Lived on campus at some point during college experience (preferred but not required)
- Plans to live on campus during the 2025-26 academic year
