All incoming freshmen admitted to the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University — regardless of AP credit, dual credit or any other credit you may have — must take the Math Placement Exam (MPE) in an online, proctored setting via Respondus Monitor® in Canvas prior to their New Student Conference. If you require testing accommodations, you must submit an accommodations request two weeks prior to your planned testing date.
Scores earned on the online proctored MPE are used to place new students in the appropriate level math course (see course placement tables below). To register for MATH 151 Engineering Mathematics I, the first required math course for a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, a student must earn an MPE score of 22 or greater. Students enrolled in Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn will take equivalent math courses through Blinn College.
