Method of Selection

The selection committee typically consists of at least two emeriti faculty members, two faculty members,
and two active members of the profession. This anonymous committee, appointed by the department
head, will review nominations and rank recommendations by ballot. Recommendations and supporting
citations will be presented to the department head for final approval. If determined that there are no
qualified applicants, the committee will have the option to recommend to the department head that no
awards be given. Award winners will be determined by the consensus of the selection committee and
approval by the department head. To protect the integrity of the process, all information regarding the
selection committee and nominations is kept confidential.

Notification

The award recipients will be contacted by the department head. The recipient will be recognized in the
Fall semester with an award presented by the department head at the Distinguished Graduate Award
and Scholarship Banquet. Award recognition will be publicized on the department's communication
channels after the presentations.
