Graduate Degree Programs
Welcome to the three graduate programs of the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (ETID), where students and professionals gain the skills needed to lead in technical environments. Our applied graduate degrees blend engineering principles with real-world applications in engineering, management and technology to prepare graduates to drive innovation in fields such as manufacturing, electronics, industrial distribution and technology management.
Each program caters to different professional goals and learning styles. Whether you are seeking leadership in engineering projects, expertise in industrial distribution or advanced technical proficiency, ETID’s programs offer flexible structures, expert faculty guidance and industry-relevant content to support your ambitions.
METM - Master of Engineering Technical Management - A part‑time, four‑semester online program that cultivates strong leadership and business skills specifically for engineers. The program integrates management theory, project leadership and strategic decision‑making to equip engineers to take on technical leadership roles without stepping away from their careers.
MID - Master of Industrial Distribution - A 21‑month, part‑time, cohort‑based online degree for working professionals in distribution and manufacturing that focuses on sales, growth, operational excellence, profitability and leadership. The program includes high-impact learning experiences, including a Residency Week, Global Distribution Project/Trip and an Industrial Capstone Project.
MSET - Master of Science in Engineering Technology - A resident program delivered over four semesters, with an optional three-semester fast‑track 4+1 pathway, the MSET degree provides an application-oriented education in engineering that spans manufacturing and mechanical engineering, electronic systems and mechatronics. Offering both thesis and non‑thesis tracks, this degree prepares graduates for application‑intensive engineering careers.
Career Opportunities and Industry Demand
Graduates of ETID’s master’s programs lead in a wide variety of sectors, including manufacturing, distribution, logistics, consulting and technology management. With specialized knowledge in engineering leadership, industrial operations and technical innovation, graduates are well positioned for roles such as Technical Project Managers, Systems Integration Specialists, Operations Directors, Distribution Managers and Leader, and Manufacturing Managers and Leaders.
The programs are developed in close collaboration with industry partners to ensure the curriculum reflects current trends, challenges and emerging technologies. This means you graduate with skills that employers are actively seeking.
Program Format and Flexibility
The METM and MID programs are structured specifically for mid-career professionals who want to advance their careers while working full-time. Delivered primarily online with limited in-person requirements, these programs offer flexibility for managing professional, academic and personal commitments. With asynchronous classes, these programs give students the ability to progress at a sustainable pace while immediately applying newly acquired knowledge to their current job.
