Bioinformatics, Computational Biology

Bioinformatics is the development and customization of algorithms (e.g. graph, tree, string, machine learning and statistical algorithms, etc.) for analyzing biological datasets and extracting new insights and knowledge, with applications to genome sequencing and evolution, gene expression, protein structure/function, disease processes, physiology, biomarkers, biomedical devices, chemi-informatics, drug discovery, epidemiology, clinical outcomes, etc.

Introduction to computational biology; formulations of biology problems as computational problems; computational approaches to solve problems in genomics and proteomics.
