The Department of Biomedical Engineering has unique strengths in Imaging technologies, Medical devices, Regenerative medicine and Sensing and monitoring systems. The department’s faculty members are internationally recognized and collegial with collaborative relationships that span engineering, physical and natural sciences, medicine and veterinary sciences. Toward impacting health outcomes, a hallmark of our research is the focus on translation to the clinic and entrepreneurship.

Objectives
The objectives of the biomedical engineering program are to produce high-quality graduates with a broad-based education in engineering, life sciences and natural sciences; graduates who earn graduate degrees, careers in the biomedical or biotechnology industries or entry into medical or other professional schools; graduates who will make significant contributions in biomedical industries, medicine and other sectors; and graduates who will apply acquired knowledge appropriately, work professionally with others, effectively communicate ideas and technical information and continue to learn and improve their knowledge base and skills.
