The Department of Biomedical Engineering’s enrollment averages 450 undergraduate students and 170 graduate students. These students receive a broad education in engineering and the life and natural sciences for further graduate studies, careers in the medical device or biotechnology industries, or entry into medical or other professional schools. Graduates of both the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs are poised to become leaders in biotechnology industries, medicine and the public sector.
The department is home to several vibrant and active programs and professional student societies for its undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Through active participation in these societies, biomedical engineering students can access departmental resources and are given voice in the activities and future of the department.
