• Professor, Biomedical Engineering
Feng Zhao

Educational Background

  • Ph.D., Biomedical Engineering, Tianjin University – 2001

Research Interests

    • Cardiovascular engineering
    • Wound healing
    • Lymphatic tissue regeneration

Dr. Feng Zhao's lab seeks to address the challenges associated with engineering cardiovascular, lymphatic and skin tissues for regenerative medicine applications. Innovative therapies are being developed by precisely manipulating stem cells, biomaterials, oxygen tension and hydrodynamic culture conditions to create complex 3D tissue constructs with structural similarity, necessary mechanical characteristics and sufficient immuno-compatibility to facilitate functional in vivo integration. The biophysical and biomechanical cues that regulate tissue development are investigated by the biomimetic replication of in vivo cell-cell and cell-environment interactions.
