The Cybersecurity Minor provides a basic understanding of programming and a firmly grounded understanding of cybersecurity, including cyber ethics. Students can specialize in the area of cybersecurity that is most closely aligned with their interests and degree plans. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering administers the minor. Eligible students must submit an application to be considered for and allowed to pursue a minor in cybersecurity.

Students must be in a degree-granting major to apply for the cybersecurity minor. (General Engineering students are not eligible as they are not yet in a degree-granting major.) Also, students must have completed at least 1 semester at Texas A&M University and have at least a 2.5 TAMU GPA. Currently, we are only able to admit students who have already completed all requirements for the minor or are majoring in Bachelor of Arts in Computing, Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, or Electronic Systems Engineering Technology.

Cybersecurity minor applications will be open from August 18, 2025, through September 1, 2025. They will reopen December 1, 2025, through January 6, 2026.
