The “Design and Manufacturing of Sustainable Medical Devices” cooperative master’s degree prepares students for careers in medical device production in both the United States and the European Union, with an emphasis on reducing environmental impact through technological innovation and sustainable production practices.
In just 18 months, students will receive:
• A Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering awarded by Texas A&M University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering.
• A Master of Science in Design and Manufacturing of Sustainable Medical Devices awarded by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki’s School of Mechanical Engineering.

The five main focus areas of the program are outlined as follows:
Incorporating innovative, environmentally friendly materials and technologies that combine a reduced environmental footprint with cost-efficient production into the development of medical products.
Integrating advanced manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing and microfabrication, into the sustainable development and production of medical devices.
Designing medical devices with a focus on reuse, recycling and resource efficiency, contributing to more sustainable healthcare technologies.
Understanding the legal and regulatory frameworks governing the design, manufacturing and use of medical devices in both the United States and the European Union, ensuring that products comply with international standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.
Strengthening entrepreneurial skills in developing and commercializing innovative and sustainable medical technologies in the global health care market.

Students with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering, science or related field are encouraged to apply.
The full application and all supporting documents are due to both institutions no later than February 1 of the program starting year. For applicants outside of the U.S., an application deadline of December 1 is encouraged to ensure adequate visa processing time.
A separate application must be sent to each institution. The same documents may be used for both applications where applicable. Unofficial transcripts and electronic files are acceptable for applying to both institutions. Admitted students shall be required to submit official transcripts upon their admission to the program.
