We are transforming cancer care by translating scientific discoveries into life-saving treatments. By combining advanced imaging, biological discoveries and nanotechnologies with computational modeling, we create personalized therapies that target tumors and preserve a patient’s quality of life.

Our research spans basic science to translational studies aimed at understanding, diagnosing, and treating cardiovascular disease across adult and pediatric populations. We integrate innovative approaches to evaluate cardiovascular health and develop disruptive technologies to treat diseases of the heart, blood vessels, and lymphatics.

We develop advanced tools to understand, model, diagnose, monitor, and treat incurable health conditions to improve the quality of life for patients and caregivers. Our goal is to enable earlier diagnoses, increase treatment effectiveness, and provide greater independence for health management.

Our translational research is anchored by programmatic grants from the Food and Drug Administration and the National Science Foundation. The focus is on the development of low-cost, early-detection diagnostic platforms, minimally invasive interventions and engineered systems for health monitoring and disease or injury prevention.

We develop cutting-edge strategies to treat and restore damaged tissues and organs by leveraging biomaterials and biomanufacturing innovations. This research seeks to support complex disease treatment by enhancing the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms.

We bridge critical gaps in women’s health by engineering solutions tailored to female physiology. Our innovations combine fundamental biological discovery with advanced sensing, imaging, biomedical devices, and regenerative technologies, empowering women to lead healthier lives across their lifespan.

Biomedical Engineering Education research aims to develop, assess, and promote transformational teaching and evidence-based learning practices and technologies that enhance student learning, engagement, and workforce development to ensure students achieve technical and professional mastery.
