Our department has a strong research presence in the largest medical center in the world, the Texas Medical Center (TMC), located in Houston, Texas.

Housed in the Alkek Building, home to the Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology (IBT), our faculty and students are strategically positioned to collaborate with clinicians, clinical-scientists and researchers across the TMC. Our labs and groups engage with neighboring organizations like MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston Methodist Hospital and the Texas Heart Institute.

Future postdoc and graduate students

Prospective graduate students and postdocs are encouraged to contact Houston-based faculty members to inquire specifically about available positions, projects and research opportunities before applying to our department. Only the faculty listed below are based in Houston and you must be accepted by one of these faculty in order to be located in Houston.

Once admitted into our department and enrolled in Texas A&M University, graduate students working with our Houston faculty may live and research in Houston. Based on the courses chosen for the program, students and principal instructors can coordinate a hybrid in-person and remote attendance schedule for classes, all of which are typically completed in the first one to two years of the degree.

Note: Our department does not have a campus presence in Houston, so student academics are a hybrid of remote classes and commutes to College Station where our department is located.
